Break The Rules: A Valentine's Day Elopement

Being completely honest, I will always support couples who go the non traditional route for their wedding or elopement. Taylor + Josh are a prime example of this. I saw first hand how this Valentine's Day elopement enabled their personalities to shine and let loose. They had a blast together for this funky elopement shoot.

A few things that stood out from this elopement that are my absolute favorite:

  • Selecting non-traditional/retro outfits. I mean just look at them; Taylor’s the tulle white dress with the shiny silver metallic was the perfect compliment for Josh’s pink velvet suit blazer.

  • The bold makeup, hair and color palette. Every detail was a merge of soft pastel colors inspired by candy conversation hearts with the city vibe and vibrant colors. All the retro, funky, colorful vibes.

  • A non-traditional location setting. Having an elopement in an environment that isn’t the usual and feels aligned with you and your partner is key. Even more, having multiple locations to switch things up only brings out the best in both of you.

If one thing you remember of Taylor + Josh’s elopement is this: make your day totally your own. They were down for whatever we suggested and froze their butts off without a single complaint. So forget what anyone else says and create something unique that feels soulfully aligned. Break tradition, the cookie cutter way of doing things and infuse your personal preferences for your special day.
